Bulldogs power past Braves

Brighton, MA - The Malden Bulldogs' red hot offense continues to stay red hot as they beat the Brighton Braves tonight, 23-0.

Malden (3-1) collected 25 hits on the night which is a new team offense record.

The Bulldogs scored early and often as 10 hitters combined to score five runs in the first inning. Malden would also score four in the third, two in the fourth, eight in the fifth and four in the sixth.

Leadoff hitter Mike Terrio knocked in five RBIs on his 2-for-3 night at the plate. Tom Englehardt, making his first start of 2010, went 4-for-4 with a RBI and Christopher Deane was 2-for-2 at the dish. Kenny Luongo came off the bench and hit a three-run home run to right. Luongo finished the game going 3-for-3 with five RBIs. 

Starter Evan Tardugno went the distance to earn his first win of 2010. He only allowed the Braves to scatter three hits over seven innings while striking out eight. 

Malden will return to action on Wednesday night (May 19th) when they take on the Brighton Minuteman. Game time is set for 7:30pm at Rogers Park in Brighton, MA. 

Malden Bests AL Thomas

The dormant Malden bats came alive today on a great day at a beautiful ball field in Milton.

Malden scored 2 runs in the first. Joe Eugenio walked (series 0-1, 6 walks)and was doubled home by a ball off the 395 foot sign in left center by Tom Englehardt. Englehardt scored on a Sac Fly by Adam Del Rio.

Al Thomas scored in the 1st on am RBI single by Muse.

Malden pushed across 2 in the 3rd. The offensive highlight came in the 4th on a 3-run homerun by Lenny Carter over the 405 foot sign in right center.

Evan Tardugno came back today getting the win in 5 innings of work. Mike Steele and Jay Wisner pitched the 6th and 7th respectively.

Malden wins the series 2-0.

Game Time 2:12. Attendance: A sellout: 52 fans! Bat Day was a success!

Malden Squeaks Out a Win in Game 1

Corey Carter stole third and scored on an over throw in the 4th inning. That was the rest of the scoring.

Ryan Stroller pitched great for Al Thomas. He kept Malden hitters off balance all day.

Adam Del Rio was the winning pitcher going 5 innings and striking out 8. Pat Shannahan got the save.

The game ended on line drive double play. Al Thomas had runners on first and second at the time.

Eugneio was on base 3 times with 3 walks, Lenny Carter had a double and a single, and Corey Carter had a single and a key steal to pace Malden's offense.

Game time 1:50. Attendance: 11

Next Game Sunday 1pm at Cunningham Park. It's bat day. All fans 4 and under get a free bat!

Malden bests Medford

Adam "Donkey" Del Rio won his second game of the week pitching on 3 days rest. He went 5 innings, scattered 4 hits and a walk. He let up 1 uneared run in the second. Del Rio also helped his own cause with 2 doubles and 4 RBI's.

Mike Steele and Joe HAdfield had their first YBL hits in the 7th inning.

Malden moves to 13-2-1 on the season. Next game vs Chelsea on Monday.

Bulldogs Lose One

The Malden Bulldogs dropped their first game of the year last nigt versus rival Revere.

The Bulldogs were playing with only 12 players last night. Kenny Olisky was notified 1 hour befoer the game that he would be the starting pitcher. Olsiky made his first appearence on the mound since 2007. Olisky had to rehab his shoulder over the winter with shoulder guru and teamate Kevin McGovern.

Olisky responded with a dominatng performance. He scattered 4 hits and no runs over 5 innings. The Bulldogs had only 3 hits on the night. The produced runs with an RBI single from Dana Levensaler and a homerun from Steve D'Entremont. D'Entromont golfed a pitch to deep center over the wall.

Revere scored 3 runs in the bottom of the 7th of closer Jay Wisner. Wisner had been perfect until last night.

Streak is now 10

The Bulldogs made it 10 in a row last night with a win over Al Thomas.

Adam "Donkey" Del Rio was in the highlight reel again but his time with his bat. Del Rio hit a first inning 3-run homerun to straight away center. Only the second ever hit at Maplewood since YBL play began.
Del Rio and Steve D'Entremont combined to go 9-10 with 10 RBI's and 17 total bases.

Lenny Carter won his second game of the year scattering 3 hits while strinking out 11 in 5 innings.

Chris Malloy continued his hot start with 3 hits for Al Thomas.

Malden Moves to 4-0 on the season.

The real winner was Maplewood's Turf which abosorbed the rain and allowed us to play while the rest of the league was washed out!.

Malden's streak reaches 9!

Malden made it 9 in row dating back to last year with a big win over the Brighton Brewers.

Adam Del Rio was oustanding tonight scattering 3 hits over 6 innings. Del Rio allowed 1 run in the first on a bloop double by Vacanti. He struck out 11, 9 of which were looking.

Malden played small ball for most of the night against starter Tupper. Malden stole bases and scored 3 runs on groundouts.

A big win for Malden who will have a tougher time the next time we face the Brewers full squad.

Next game in 7 days vs. Al Thomas.

Malden plated the first 9 hitters in the first inning en route to a 12 to 3 win.
The game was certainly not a an exhibition of pitching control. There were a total of 19 walks between both teams.
Mike Barthel got the win. He came into the game in the 4th and got out of a base loaded and none out jam.
Malden improves to 2 -0.

Dogs Win Opener

Lenny Carter got the Bulldogs going in the right direction despite not having is best stuff. Carter went 5 innings, allowed 2 hits, walked 2 and struck out 8.

Chris Deane announced his presence with 2 hits, 2 RBI's and a stolen base. Ken Olisky had 2 hits and 2 SB's. James Caudle also had 2 hits for the Bulldogs.

Griffith held the Bulldogs at bay for 4 plus innings before leaving with a finger injury
