Today was Opening Day for the Commonwealth Amateur Baseball League! The North Shore Giants defeated the Merrimack Valley Expos 4-1 at Fraser Field in Lynn. Veteran pitcher Mark Infurna got the got the start for the Giants and looked strong, pitching a complete game allowing only one run scattering 4 hits along the way. 
Zack Kirby took the mound for the Expos and looked very good but the Giants were able to finally break through in the bottom of the fourth inning when Justin Oblenes singled to right and Nick Panzini hit a triple down the right field line driving him in for the first run of the game. The Expos tied the game in the 5th but in the bottom of the 6th, after back to back infield hits by Oblenes and Danny Lynch, Panzini got hit by a pitch to load the bases for newcomer Jansiel Rivera. The rookie delivered in the clutch situation roping a line drive RBI single to left center field scoring Oblenes to put the Giants ahead 2-1. They would go on to tack on two more runs later in the inning after Robert Kimber got hit by a pitch with the bases loaded and a wild pitch scoring another insurance run. Infurna came back out for the seventh and retired the side in order to secure the Giants first win of year. 
The Giants are off to a good start and look to continue to play winning baseball when they host the Medford Athletics Wednesday night at 8pm in Lynn - Fraser Field
